"Scorpio" is a fantastic yacht to charter. She is a fast sailing boat yet her spacious accommodation and high levels of equipment make for luxurious living.
Scorpio in Colombia
Built in 1996 at the Fred Shultz Yard in Cape Town, South Africa, "Scorpio" is a Sovereign 51 designed by Phil Southwell.

She accommodates 3 guests in 2 aft cabins, both are extremely well ventilated by a large ceiling hatch to funnel breeze plus opening ports on 3 sides.  The larger Guest Double Cabin has a queen sized bed and en-suite bathroom.  Guests using the adjacent Single Cabin can share the double cabin facilities or those of the crew off the Saloon.

The Saloon is spacious and comfortable with a corridor leading to the private aft guest cabin area.

On deck a separate helmsman's cockpit aft leaves a spacious centre cockpit with table for al fresco dining and offers guests ample space to relax.

"Scorpio" is well equipped for comfortable living and cruising she is powered by a Volvo Penta 60hp auxiliary engine and has a 6Kw Northern Lights generator.  She is fitted with air conditioning and also has a 35 gallon/hour fresh water-maker and a 2.5Kw inverter (providing ample mains power when the generator is not in use).

Generator and engine driven alternator power supplies are supplemented by a solar panel array and wind powered generator.

"Scorpio" performs well under sail. With her large rig she has ample sail area to make way even in the lightest of breezes.  She is cutter rigged with a 125% genoa and a small staysail both permanently rigged on self furlers, this makes for easy sail handling even when the wind pipes up.

Under her previous ownership, with full racing crew, she competed in the Cape Town to Rio de Janeiro Yacht Race and aquitted herself well.  Since we bought her the layout has been redesigned to create more spacious accommodation.
